Emerging Producer Mentorship Program

About the Emerging Producer Mentorship Program

Leadership roles in the creative industries are notoriously difficult to gain experience in. There is a lack of accessible training available to emerging producers, which has led to the deficit of producers and leaders in this space, particularly within the independent theatre sector. To address this, New Ghosts Theatre Company invited two emerging producers to upskill in this area through our production of Hush by Ciella Williams. Sarah Jasem and Rebecca Abdel-Messih took on the roles of Assistant Producer, with Jane Angharad and Janine Lau supporting them as lead project producers and mentors.

The residency provided these artists with the space to take risks and experiment in a safe space with structured support, allowing for the skill expansion, training and professional CV credits needed to make them an asset within the independent sector, ensuring they can continue to access professional producing opportunities in the future. This was a paid-to-learn project, with all four artists receiving a payment for their time in the program.

This program is proudly supported by Create NSW.
