NEW GHOSTS THEATRE COMPANY
presents the Australian premiere of
IPHIGENIA IN SPLOTT
by Gary Owen
Directed by Lucy Clements
At Flight Path Theatre 12 – 21 Nov 2020
& Online 17 – 29 Nov 2020
Fresh from its critically acclaimed production of Blue Christmas at KXT, New Ghosts Theatre Company brings Artistic Director Lucy Clements and resident IGNITE performer Meg Clarke back together again in the Australian premiere of a one-woman show that has taken stages by storm internationally.
Stumbling down Clifton Street at 11:30am drunk, Effie is the kind of girl you’d avoid eye contact with, silently passing judgement. We think we know her, but we don’t know the half of it. Effie’s life spirals through a mess of drink, drugs and drama every night, and a hangover worse than death the next day – till one night gives her the chance to be something more.
Inspired by the enduring Greek myth, Iphigenia in Splott drives home the high price people pay for society’s shortcomings. Effie will break your heart.
Performed by Meg Clarke, Produced by Jane Angharad, Set and Costume Design by Angela Doherty, Lighting Design by James Smithers and Jack Saltmiras, Sound Design and Composition by Chrysoulla Markoulli, Cinematography by Jack Saltmiras, Camera Operation by Jonathan Baker, Sound Mixing by Adam Connelly, Sound Recording by Michael Yore, Stage Management by Milly Grindrod, Assistant Produced by Janine Lau, Assistant Directed by Tiffany Wong, Assistant Stage Management by Cecilia Dinh
