Lucy Clements
Artistic Director

Lucy Clements is the Artistic and Managing Director of New Ghosts Theatre Company and the Old Fitz Theatre. Since founding New Ghosts in 2015, she has led 15 productions, including 11 world premieres. The company has earned seven Sydney Theatre Award nominations, winning Best Independent Production for Albion, with Lucy also awarded Best Director of an Independent Production. Lucy is a director specialising in the development and presentation of new Australian works. Plays developed by New Ghosts have gained recognition through nominations for the NT, VIC, and NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, the NT Book Awards, and have been published by Currency Press and Playlab. In 2024 she made her operatic directorial debut with Dido and Aeneas at Pinchgut Opera and was appointed to the Artform Board of Create NSW.

Emma Wright
Producer

Emma Wright is a Bond University graduate with a Bachelor of Film and Television (2015) who works across disciplines as a Producer, Playwright, and Actor. She has collaborated with companies including Sport For Jove, Queensland Theatre, Riverside Theatres, and Monkey Baa, and previously produced for Australian Theatre Live, Eye Contact Theatre Company, Secret House, and Corvus Arts Theatre. In her practice, Emma eagerly combines a deep love for the classics with a passion for developing and staging new work and diversifying the Australian theatre canon. She firmly believes in the power of theatre to reach deep and coax us from our echo chambers, to challenge biases, and initiate informed, empathetic and actionable conversation. Emma joined New Ghosts Theatre Company as a Producer in 2022, and is honoured to have taken on the role of Executive Producer at the Old Fitz Theatre in 2024.

Milla McPhee
Chair

Milla (She/Her) is Director of Audiences at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, leading audience growth, brand strategy, marketing, and data and insights across the ABC’s platforms and content.

She began her career in behavioural economics at the University of Sydney before moving into the creative industry. Milla has held senior strategy roles at Droga5 in Sydney and New York, adam&eveDDB in London, and Amazon as Head of Brand and Creative Strategy. She returned to Australia in 2024 as Chief Strategy Officer at Droga5 Australia and Managing Director at Accenture Song, before joining the ABC leadership team.

Rosie Marks-Smith
Vice Chair

Rosie has a background in program management and arts administration, skills she first developed while working as a freelance jazz musician in Sydney. Her passion for supporting artists led her to work at the Australia Council for the Arts and currently as the Orchestra Manager of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. With over 10 years’ experience in the industry Rosie brings to the NGTC Board her specialisation in event administration and people management skills. 

Thulaisi Sivapalan
Treasurer

Thulaisi is a published researcher focused on investigating the relationship between tax, retirement income and healthcare expenditure. He brings more than 15 years’ experience in analysing, interpreting, connecting and communicating quantitative and qualitative data to the New Ghosts Theatre Company Board of Directors.

Pierce Hartigan
Secretary & Public Officer

Pierce is a media lawyer, having previously worked at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He is also an accomplished writer and musician, and is passionate about local arts and artists.

Sid De
Board Member

Sid is an experienced Marketing and Advertising professional with over ten years experience helping Australia’s biggest brands connect better with customers and stakeholders.  He brings years of experience in communications, production, branding and customer relationship management. He currently works in a senior role in Client Services in the advertising industry.
